Description and Objectives
Fall 2020
The Business English course deals with business concepts, interactions, and other forms of dealings that involve networking, telephoning, meetings, presentations and conferences, negotiation, interviews, etc. using English as a medium of instruction and communication. Students will be exposed to interactive business challenges that help them carry out their ability with appropriate strategies and techniques in professional business situations. Thus, students will become more constructive, strategic, and competent in the world of spoken and written business.
By the end of the course, students will have:
1.assessed their linguistics, communicative, and presentation skills suitable for business;
2.equipped with sufficient knowledge in the conduct of business undertakings;
3.applied strategies and techniques in creating business proposals, sales, marketing and other faucets of business deals; and,
4.shown interest and enthusiasm in initiating and expanding business communication.

Grading
Grading is done on a curve. It means only the very top 30% of students can get an A/A+ grade, the next 40% only can get B/B+, and the lowest 30% will be awarded C grade or lower. You are competing against each other. Grade distribution: 30% - midterm exam; 30% - final exam; 15% - class standing which includes tests and class behavior; and 25% - attendance.
